At Utage Child Development Centre, our Occupational Therapy (OT) services help children develop the skills they need for everyday life—whether it’s holding a spoon, writing, dressing, playing, or paying attention in class. We focus on helping your child become more independent, confident, and functional in daily routines.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy helps children improve their ability to perform tasks appropriate to their age in areas such as:
Fine motor skills (hand movement, grip, writing, using scissors)
Sensory processing (handling touch, sound, movement sensitivity)
Daily activities (brushing teeth, buttoning clothes, feeding)
Attention, focus, and behavior regulation
Social skills and play routines
It is especially helpful for children with developmental delays, autism, ADHD, sensory issues, or coordination difficulties.
When Does a Child Need Occupational Therapy?
Your child may benefit from OT if they:
Struggle with handwriting, cutting, or holding objects
Avoid or overreact to textures, sounds, or movements
Find it hard to focus or follow instructions
Have delays in self-care (toileting, feeding, dressing)
Get overwhelmed in busy or noisy environments
Have trouble with balance or coordination
Our Approach
Our trained occupational therapists use:
Play-based activities to build skills in a fun way
Sensory integration therapy to help with reactions to sound, touch, and movement
Fine motor exercises to improve hand strength and precision
Structured routines to support attention and behavior
Parent guidance to continue progress at home
Each session is tailored to the child’s needs and goals, and therapy plans are often created in collaboration with speech therapists, physiotherapists, and child psychologists.
